Welcome to the Wellington on the Lake Residents Association (WOLRA) website. Wellington on the Lake (WOTL) is an adult lifestyle community located on the shores of Lake Ontario, in the village of Wellington, Prince Edward County, Ontario. Membership in WOLRA is open to every resident of WOTL. Membership is not by household but by individual resident. There is a small fee for Annual Membership that is renewable annually.

Our Purpose

1. Recognize the important role our residents have in enabling the development, maintenance and establishment of a safe, secure and tranquil community for all residents to enjoy.
2. Acknowledge the inherent rights of our residents and attribute to them their long-standing efforts and initiatives to make Wellington on the Lake a great place to live and prosper.
3. Work in partnership with the residents and the community to enhance life in Wellington on the Lake community life in whatever way possible.
4. Address the need to provide effective communication with the membership of the association.
5. Maintain communication with the owner of the leased land, the developer and the property management company.
6. Be proactive in all areas of board responsibilities, providing an active lifestyle and social activities.
7. Address the needs for an even distribution of responsibilities of members of the Board in service to over 800 members of which many are volunteers.
8. Maintain the increasing need for confidentiality, privacy and fiscal responsibility.

Why be a  Member

1. You can speak and vote on the issues that impact our community.
2. As a member you will receive regular communication of important updates and news through eBlasts.
3. You have access to the Members’ Section of our website.
4. Members receive an Annual Telephone Directory listing all WOTL residents, plus pertinent information about our community, as well as emergency and important contacts and a listing of WOLRA activities.
5. Members receive notification via email as soon as each monthly Neighbourly News is published.
6. Members are able to participate without charge in any of the activities organized by WOLRA (a few activities may charge for an outside instructor or for special supplies or equipment).
7. Members pay reduced ticket prices for WOLRA sponsored events.
8. Members are able to book space in the Recreation Centre, the Outdoor Living Centre and the various sports venues and to use WOLRA assets such as sports equipment, audio-visual equipment, and kitchen supplies (only to be used within the Recreation Centre building or the adjacent grounds).
9. A free name badge is provided to new members (a small charge is made for replacement badges).
10. All activities, celebrations and events that take place in Wellington on the Lake benefit directly or indirectly through the membership dues.
11. And most importantly, our community is improved by everyone working together to support our wonderful lifestyle.

WOLRA's membership year runs from May 1 to May 31.

WOLRA serves the residents of Wellington on the Lake by creating and maintaining a strong, vibrant community, neighbourhood and a safe and tranquil environment.
The Board of Directors will support active life style and social activities and will share responsibilities fairly among Board Directors and WOLRA members.

We will establish and maintain effective communications with the WOLRA membership, Sandbank Homes Inc, Frontier Management and Daimler Retirement Parks Ltd, and in so doing, will oversee the collective interests of the membership.

We acknowledge and respect the inherent rights of residents and we attribute to them their long standing efforts and initiatives to make Wellington on the Lake a great place to live and prosper.

WOLRA has established a set of bylaws and policies.

General Meetings are usually held every two months, and the annual meeting is in July. Specific dates are also announced to members via an Eblast.

Board of Directors

All Board Members play a vital role in facilitating the development, maintenance, and establishment of a safe, secure, and peaceful community in WOTL, ensuring a delightful environment for all residents. They are dedicated to recognizing the fundamental rights of our residents and valuing their enduring contributions and initiatives that have contributed to making WOTL an outstanding place to live and thrive. Board Members actively collaborate with residents and the community, striving to enhance the quality of life in WOTL in every possible way. They are committed to fostering effective communication with the membership and maintaining open channels of communication with the owner of the leased land, the developer, and the property management company, while also serving as a liaison with E-blaster when necessary.

Rick Stevens



Responsible for and liaison with:

  • Sandbanks, Frontier and Daimler (along with other Board members on a issue basis
  • County (Mayor, Wellington Ward Councillor, County Staff)
  • External Communications (i.e. outside of WOTL)

Responsible for the general supervision of the affairs of the corporation, more specifically:

  • Preside at meeting of Board and Members
  • Responsible for the operations of the Board
  • Official spokesperson for the Corporation
  • Ex-officio, non-voting member of all Committees except Nominating
  • Monitor the performance of all Committees
  • Ensure Directors are aware of policy guidelines and committee decisions.

Perform other duties as required.

Doug Henderson



Responsible for overseeing delivery of the Association’s operational programs and services, more specifically:

  • Work with Club/Activity Coordinators to maintain the Association’s events, programs and activities
  • Responsible to complete and monitor Guidelines for Club and Activity Coordinators
  • Responsible for the Room Booking Coordinator, Coffee Mornings Coordinator, Registration Desk Staff, 50/50 Draw Staff (GMs)
  • Lead Operational Review in cooperation with the Treasurer
  • Act for the President in the President’s absence or inability to act
Andy Mackenzie



Oversees the financial affairs of the Corporation, more specifically

  • Establish and follow sound financial policies and practices that will ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the Association.
  • Ensure all monies received and disbursed on behalf of the Association are appropriately and accurately recorded.
  • Ensure that proper accounting records are maintained.
  • Provide the Board and Membership with an account of the financial position; tracking of the annual budget and monitoring of club and activity budgets.
  • Prepare a proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year and track/monitor the budget on a monthly basis).
Heather Hamann



Maintains the corporate records of the Corporation, more specifically:

  • Prepare, prior to each meeting of the Board and Members an agenda for the presiding officer.
  • Record the minutes (to our Board standards) of all member and Board of Directors meetings.
  • Report and post to the membership the minutes of the Members and Board of Directors meetings.
  • Record the disposition and key correspondence in the minutes.
  • File the corporate annual return, any changes regarding directors and copies of bylaws and bylaw amendments with Corporations Canada.
  • Monitoring correspondence to wolrasecretary22@gmail.com and P.O. Box.
  • Organization of and ongoing filing of WOLRA files.
  • Notices of meetings – posters, bulletin boards and website.
  • Management of Online Voting Procedures.
Derek Mendham

Director, Communications

  • Monitoring of email correspondence to info.WOLRA@gmail.com and wolraboard@gmail.com.
  • Chairs Communications Committees – includes Webmaster/ E-Blaster, Newsletter, Welcome Committee, Membership as required.
  • Develop and oversee new communication initiatives to Members.
Bob Hicks

Director, Community Welfare

  • Monitor and oversee the following:Health, Safety and Disabilities Committee, Evacuation Committee, Legal issues Committee, and Dispute Resolution Committee
  • Responsible for Celebration of Life (COL) including,but not limited to the following: sending or delivering condolence cards, obtaining death notices from newspapers or funeral homes for inclusion by Secretary in WOLRA binder, dealing with family their desire for COL, informing membership, room booker, and Newsletter, advise Treasurer regarding memoriam donations
  • Performs other duties as required
Alan Carmichael

Director, Inside Facilities

  • Liaison with Frontier Manager regarding all interior facilities; snooker room, card room, dance room, library, fitness center, kitchen washrooms and pool change rooms.
  • Monitor general state of facilities in WOTL; Audio Visual Committee, Kitchen Committee, Fitness Room Committee, Storage Committee, Library Committee.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Peter Campbell

Director, Outside Facilities

  • Liaison with Frontier Manager regarding all outdoor facilities.
  • Monitor and oversee the following: tennis, bocce ball, horseshoe, shuffleboard courts and pool areas.
  • Monitor general state of common grounds around WOTL; landscaping maintenance, lighting, roads, Outdoor Living Center (OLC) and the exterior of recreation center.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Kevin Flynn

Director, Special Projects

  • Organize and oversee Activity Sign up Day.
  • Organize and oversee Volunteer Celebration Day.
  • Oversee and assist in Annual Garage Sale.
  • Oversee and assist in Annual Garage Sale.
  • Develop and/or oversee additional Special Projects as they arise.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Ian Chan

Director, Leasehold

  • Responsible for communication between leasehold homeowners and Daimler
  • Address issues and concerns on the leasehold side
  • Perform other duties as required
